The sale runs from January 29 to February 1, offering up to $125 off interstate flights and $100 off intrastate flights. Tickets are available until sold out, aiming to boost travel to Tropical North Queensland during the summer and autumn shoulder season.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen highlighted the success of the previous sale in October when more than 4,400 Australians booked flights to Cairns within just 36 hours. Of those travellers, 68% were from interstate, helping to drive visitation during the region’s quieter months.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen encouraged Australians to take advantage of the sale, highlighting the region’s stunning natural beauty during this time of year.

“I encourage Aussies to act quickly and secure a much-needed break in Tropical North Queensland when the Great Barrier Reef is at its clearest and the Wet Tropics rainforest at its greenest,” Olsen said.

Webjet OTA CEO David Galt expressed excitement about the continued partnership with Tourism Tropical North Queensland, emphasizing the success of last year’s sale.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate again, giving Australians the chance to snag a bargain and plan an unforgettable trip to this iconic region,” Galt said. “Last year’s sale sold out in record time, significantly increasing interstate and intrastate travel to Cairns. We’re hoping for great results again and look forward to more travellers discovering the beauty and adventure of Tropical North Queensland.”

Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker noted that passenger numbers remained strong throughout the summer, with demand for domestic flights expected to grow.

“Airline partners like Jetstar are scheduling more domestic flights and deploying larger aircraft to Cairns, injecting thousands of additional seats into the market and demonstrating strong confidence in the region,” Barker said.

He also highlighted Jetstar’s newly launched direct flights from the Sunshine Coast, which have been well-received by locals and visitors alike.

“These discounted airfares come at the perfect time for travellers seeking a late summer escape. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an affordable, tropical getaway,” Barker added.

Olsen further noted that TTNQ’s campaign activity is expected to bring over 19,000 additional visitors during the low season, generating $27 million in overnight visitor expenditure.

To complement the airfare sale, Expedia and Wotif.com have launched a flash sale on accommodation and experiences, running until mid-February. Additionally, My Queensland will offer further holiday packages with incentives throughout March.

“Our recent campaigns have educated Australians that late spring through autumn is when Tropical North Queensland is at its most rejuvenating,” Olsen said. “The rainforest is lush and green, cassowary chicks can be spotted with their fathers, the Great Barrier Reef is crystal clear after coral spawning, and our famous mangoes are in season.

“Discounted airfares and travel incentives will remind visitors that a Tropical North Queensland getaway is the perfect post-holiday escape.”

For travellers looking for flexible and convenient accommodation, they offer a range of Cairns serviced apartments ideal for both short and extended stays. These apartments provide easy access to local attractions, transport hubs, and vibrant city life, making them a practical choice for holidaymakers planning to explore the region.
